A Qatar Airways Airbus A350-1000 operating a service from São Paulo, Brazil to Doha, Qatar diverted to Salvador after shutting down one engine on 15 November 2024.
Qatar Airways flight QR774, operated by an Airbus A350-1000, had departed from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). The aircraft was conducting a scheduled service to Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH).

Whilst established in cruising flight over the Atlantic Ocean to the south-east of Salvador, Brazil, flight crew reported a problem with one engine. The operating crew conducted an in-flight shutdown of the engine and initiated a single engine drift down procedure.
Flight crew elected to make a precautionary diversion to Salvador International Airport (SSA). The aircraft landed without further incident approximately 1.5 hours after the diversion was made.

Flight data shows that flight QR774 had conducted a normal departure from from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport on 15 November.
Flighted then set course normally, climbing to flight level FL350 (35,000 feet) for the north easterly service to Doha. Flight crew then carried out the diversion from a position along flight plan track approximately 470 nautical miles from Salvador.
The single engine drift down procedure was conducted to flight level FL220, and the aircraft completed the diversion to Salvador at the reduced altitude.

The aircraft conducting the QR774 the service to Doha was an Airbus A350-1000, registered A7-ANA. This is a seven year old wide body aircraft belonging to the carrier Qatar Airways.
It has been operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in February 2018.
