A QantasLink flight bound for Adelaide made a return to Brisbane after experiencing a brake problem on Tuesday, 10 December 2024.
QantasLink flight QF1929, operated by an Embraer ERJ-190, had conducted a departure from Brisbane International Airport (BNE). The aircraft was conducting a scheduled service to Adelaide Airport (ADE).

According to the local news source Brisbane Times, passengers were in advised in-flight that the aircraft had experienced a brakes malfunction.
A passenger on board the aircraft said the announcement came approximately 40 minutes into the flight. The captain advised that the aircraft breaks had locked, and they were returning to Brisbane for an emergency landing.
Emergency ground services vehicles were in attendance for the aircraft’s return, and passengers were advised to assume the brace position as a precaution.
The aircraft was able to land safely without further incident.

Flight data shows that flight QF1929 had made a departure out of Brisbane at 0820 local time on 10 December.
Following departure, the flight had set course normally for Adelaide, South Australia, and had climbed to flight level FL360. The aircraft was still in New South Wales airspace when the turnaround was initiated. From there, a direct return to the origin airport was carried out.
The aircraft conducting the QF1929 rotation to Adelaide was an Embraer ERJ-190, registered VH-XVS. This is an 18-year-old regional twin jet belonging to subsidiary airline QantasLink.
It has been in operational service with the carrier since July 2023. Prior to its present service it has passed through the hands of several other airlines, notably including US Airways and American Airlines. It was originally delivered from the factory in December 2006 to US Airways.
