Qantas, Australia’s national airline, has announced its plans to boost the travel experience for passengers in Western Australia’s Kimberley region.

Construction of a new, spacious Qantas Broome Regional Lounge has now begun, marking a significant upgrade for the popular tourist destination. Set to open its doors in December 2024, the new lounge will double the capacity of the existing facility.

This expansion comes in response to growing demand from premium travelers and coincides with the broader development of Broome International Airport.

Supporting Tourism in the Kimberley

Catriona Larritt, Qantas Chief Customer and Digital Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the new project. “We’re excited to bring an elevated lounge experience to our Broome customers. This investment highlights our commitment to Western Australia and our dedication to supporting tourism in the Kimberley region.”

The new lounge’s design will showcase the natural beauty of the Kimberley. Visitors will be greeted by rich, vibrant colors inspired by the surrounding landscape.

Deep reds reminiscent of James Price Point, bright oranges reflecting Roebuck Bay’s sand and soil, and blues echoing Willie Creek will feature prominently throughout the space.

Broome: A Tropical Paradise

Situated on the northwest coast of Western Australia, Broome is a breathtaking destination known for its turquoise waters, red cliffs, and 22-kilometer-long Cable Beach.

This tropical paradise offers visitors a unique blend of natural wonders and rich cultural heritage. Travelers can explore the town’s pearling history, witness the famous “Staircase to the Moon” phenomenon, or embark on eco-adventures in the surrounding wilderness.

Broome serves as a gateway to the vast Kimberley region, making it an ideal starting point for outback explorations.

Improved Connectivity and Comfort

Qantas operates seasonal direct flights to Broome from Sydney and Melbourne between April and October, with year-round services from Perth.

The new lounge will cater to business and leisure travelers alike. The new facility will provide a comfortable, welcoming space to relax or work before their flights. The existing lounge will remain open throughout the construction period, ensuring minimal disruption to travelers.

This project is part of Qantas’ broader $100 million investment to upgrade its global lounge network, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to enhancing customer experiences across its routes.

Broome continues to grow as a popular, sought-after world tourist destination. Qantas’ investment in the new Regional Lounge will play a crucial role in the region’s future. It will support increased visitation and providing world-class facilities for travelers exploring this unique corner of Australia.
