A Qanot Sharq Airbus A320-200 operating between Istanbul, Turkey and Samarkand, Uzbekistan made an emergency diversion to Merzifon after losing cabin pressure on 26 August 2024.
Qanot Sharq flight HH572, an Airbus A320-200 outbound from Istanbul Airport (IST), was in cruising flight en route to Samarkand when the technical issue arose.

Flight crew reported experiencing a loss of cabin pressure, and an emergency descent procedure was initiated. The decision was then made to carry out a precautionary diversion to Amasya Merzifon Airport (MZH), Turkey.
The flight then landed safely at Merzifon (MZH), a Turkish military airport, without further incident. A replacement aircraft was mustered to carry out the scheduled flight service.

Flight data shows that flight HH572 made a departure out of Istanbul Airport at 1652 local time on 26 August. The flighted set course normally for Samarkand International Airport (SKD), climbing to flight level FL330 (33,000 feet) for the easterly service.
Having passed to the north of Ankara on flight plan track, the emergency descent and diversion was then conducted to Merzifon.
The aircraft conducting the HH572 service to Uzbekistan was an Airbus A320-200, registered UK32031. This is a 17.6-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Qanot Sharq.
Named ‘Mukhtabar N’, it has been in operational service with the airline since June 2021. Prior to service with the airline it has passed through the hands of other carriers. It was operated by Air Berlin from its initial delivery from the factory in February 2007.
Qanot Sharq is an Uzbek airline based in Tashkent, serving both domestic and international destinations. It’s known for its focus on providing domestic air travel options within Uzbekistan.
