PLAY Airlines, the innovative low-cost carrier, is expanding its Spanish destinations with the launch of scheduled flights to Valencia. This will become the airline’s ninth destination in Spain.
Starting May 24 2025, PLAY will operate flights twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the summer season until late September.
PLAY: Connections Through Iceland
As a budget-friendly airline linking North America and Europe, PLAY utilizes Iceland as its central hub. This unique positioning offers passengers an enticing opportunity. The carrier offers a stopover in Iceland for up to 10 days at no extra cost before continuing their transatlantic journey.
From North America, PLAY serves five major cities: Baltimore, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., and Toronto. This extensive network makes European travel more accessible to a wide range of North American passengers.
Discover Iceland: A Land of Wonders
Iceland, PLAY’s home base, is a treasure trove of natural beauty. Travelers can explore stunning waterfalls, massive glaciers, erupting geysers, and diverse wildlife – all within easy reach of Reykjavik. The capital city itself is a cultural hub, boasting excellent restaurants, museums, and a vibrant nightlife scene.
PLAY’s Rapid Growth
Since its inaugural flight in June 2021, PLAY has experienced remarkable growth. The airline now boasts a fleet of 10 Airbus A320/321neo aircraft, with an average age of just over three years. This modern fleet ensures passengers enjoy comfortable, safe, and reliable travel experiences.
PLAY’s commitment to quality service is evident in its impressive 83% on-time performance in 2023. Moreover, USA Today readers voted PLAY’s cabin crew as the best, while the airline clinched the title of best low-cost carrier in Northern Europe.
Expanding Spanish Horizons
Valencia joins PLAY’s growing list of Spanish destinations, which already includes Alicante, Barcelona, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Malaga, Mallorca, and Tenerife. This expansion underscores Spain’s importance in PLAY’s market strategy.
Einar Örn Ólafsson, PLAY’s CEO, offered comment about the new route. “Our Valencia service marks PLAY’s ninth destination in Spain, strengthening our presence in this popular region. We’re thrilled to offer more travel options while connecting North America and Europe through Iceland.”
With its innovative approach, modern fleet, and expanding route network, PLAY Airlines continues to reshape budget travel between North America and Europe.
Whether you’re planning a Spanish getaway or a multi-stop adventure with an Icelandic twist, PLAY offers a fresh and affordable way to explore.
