Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft has taken a further step in enhancing its presence in the United States with a new development in Bradenton, Florida..

The company recently signed a deal to develop a factory-owned flagship sales, design, and service center in Bradenton, Florida. This will mark a new era in its presence and commitment to the American market.

North America is a key market for Pilatus’ popular PC-12 single-engine turboprop and PC-24 Super Versatile Jet.

A Strategic Location for Growth

A formalizing ceremony was recently held at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (KSRQ). Pilatus executives and Airport Authority officials firmed an agreement to develop 17 acres on the north side of the airport.

This prime location will house Pilatus’ new state-of-the-art sales and service facility, strategically positioned to serve the Southeastern United States. The initial phase of development is quite ambitious. It features 54,000 square feet dedicated to maintenance activities, spare parts distribution, and new aircraft deliveries.

An additional 17,000 square feet will accommodate workshops, offices, and administrative spaces. With an expected operational date set for mid-2026, the facility represents a significant investment in Pilatus’ future in the region.

Thomas Bosshard, President and CEO of Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd, was enthusiastic about the new project. “We are very excited to take this significant growth step to support our customers with an outstanding ownership experience.”

Economic Impact and Job Creation

The economic implications of this development are substantial. Initially, the new Customer Center will create over 50 jobs, managing various aspects of Pilatus’ operations in the Southeast.

However, the company’s vision extends far beyond these initial numbers. Future growth plans for the Bradenton location include establishing final assembly capabilities for aircraft destined for North and South America, with the potential to employ up to 300 people.

This expansion aligns perfectly with local educational initiatives. Rick Piccolo, President and CEO of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, highlighted the synergy between Pilatus’ arrival and the planned Airframe & Powerplant school by Manatee Technical College.

This collaboration promises to create a robust pipeline of skilled workers, offering lucrative opportunities right in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.

Sharon Hillstrom, president and CEO of the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corp., further emphasized the unique appeal of the region.

“The aviation ecosystem we offer in the Bradenton Area on Florida’s west coast is one-of-a-kind. Working with the team at the airport, we provide a world-class location for companies like Pilatus that are bringing capital investment and jobs to our community.”

American Aircraft Presence

The decision to establish this flagship facility in Florida is no coincidence. The Sunshine State, along with the U.S. East Coast, represents the highest concentration of Pilatus aircraft operations, sales, and service activity worldwide. In 2022 alone, Florida saw more than 6,200 Pilatus flight operations, underscoring the region’s importance to the company’s global strategy.

Justin Lazzeri, CEO of Pilatus’ Sales and Service Center for the U.S. East Coast, envisions the Bradenton facility as a showcase for “Pilatus Class” sales and service. He noted, “Our new facility in Bradenton will be a flagship store that will serve as a model for our global network of Authorized Pilatus Sales and Service Centers.”

Summary

This new center is part of a broader initiative to support the growing fleet of more than 2,250 Pilatus aircraft based in North and South America.

By creating a model facility in Bradenton, Pilatus aims to set new standards for customer experience that can be replicated across its global network of independent Authorized Sales and Service Centers.

As Pilatus continues to strengthen its position in the American market, this expansion in Bradenton stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to excellence and its confidence in the future of aviation in the region.

With its blend of strategic location, economic impact, and focus on customer service, the new Pilatus facility will become a cornerstone of the company’s global operations.
