A Pakistan International Airways (PIA) Airbus A320-200 operating the service from Al Ain, UAE to Islamabad, Pakistan diverted to Karachi after losing cabin pressure on 13 October 2024.
Pakistan International Airways flight PK144, operated by an A320-200, was en route to Islamabad International Airport (ISB) in cruising flight.

Over Pakistani airspace to the north of Karachi, the aircraft experienced a loss of cabin pressure. The crew initiated an emergency descent to flight level FL110.
Following the emergency descent, flight crew made the decision to divert to Karachi Jinnah International Airport (KHI) as a precaution.
The flight subsequently landed on runway 25L Jinnah International Airport, approximately one hour after the emergency descent was conducted.

Flight data shows that the flight PK144 had made a delayed departure out of Al Ain International Airport (AIN) on 13 October. Actual time of departure for the flight was logged as 0144 local time. Schedule time of departure for the service was listed as 0030 local time.
Following its departure, the flight had proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL350 (35,000 feet) for the service to Pakistan.
The aircraft was in cruising flight at FL350, approximately 250 nautical miles to the north of Karachi when the descent and diversion was initiated.
The aircraft conducting the PK144 service from the United Arab Emirates was an Airbus A320-200, registered AP-BOM. This is a 12.2-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier PIA Pakistan International Airlines.
It has been in operational service with the airline since July 2022.
The aircraft was involved in a prior incident on 27 June 2024 at Faisalabad International Airport (LYP). On that occasion, the aircraft performed a rejected takeoff at high speed following a birdstrike to its right-hand engine.
