Philippine Airlines Dash 8-400 Overshoots Runway on Landing in Busuanga

Philippine Airlines flight PR2680, a Dash 8-400 arriving from Cebu (CEB), overshot the runway whilst landing at Busuanga Airport (USU) on 14 July

A Philippine Airlines (PAL) Dash 8-400 operating from Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) to overshot the runway on landing in Busuanga, Coron (USU) on 14 July 2024.

Philippine Airlines regional flight PR2680 had landed on RWY 26 Busuanga Airport (USU) during a period of poor weather conditions.

During the aircraft’s subsequent landing role, it overshot the paved runway and continued into the grassed runway overshoot area.

The aircraft, an 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8-400, was then brought to a stop in the overshoot area.

All 53 passengers and 4 flight crew members were safely disembarked from the aircraft, with no reported injuries sustained.

Flight data shows that flight PR2680 departed Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) at 1344 local time and landed at Busuanga Airport at 1451 local.

PAL expressed their appreciation for the passengers’ patience and understanding, along with those impacted by the following disruptions.

Photographs provided by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) sow the aircraft came to rest in soft ground, approximately 100 metres from the overshoot end of RWY 26.

According to a subsequent airport advisory, Busuanga Airport (USU) resumed normal operations as of 0824 local time. The PAL aircraft (RP-C5905), which had caused the temporary disruption, was removed from the runway at 0239 local.

The aircraft conducting the regional PR2680 service from Mactan Cebu International Airport was a De Havilland Dash 8-400, registered RP-C5905.

This is a 6.8 year old regional turboprop aircraft belonging to the national carrier Philippine Airlines. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery in October 2017.
