Peach Aviation has taken a significant step in its international expansion by launching a daily service between Singapore and Osaka (Kansai). Changi Airport welcomed the inaugural flight, which landed on Thursday 5 December 2024.
This new route marks an important milestone for the low-cost carrier. It now extends its reach beyond its established domestic and regional network.
A Rising Star in Low-Cost Aviation
Founded in 2011, Peach Aviation has rapidly established itself as a leading low-cost carrier in Japan. As the budget airline arm of All Nippon Airways (ANA), the carrier has built a strong reputation for affordable and efficient air travel.
While primarily known for its domestic routes, Peach has been steadily expanding its international presence, connecting Japan with destinations across China and Korea.
The Singapore route represents a strategic expansion for Peach, becoming only its second medium-haul international route alongside its existing Bangkok service.
More importantly, it is the carrier’s longest international route to date, showcasing the airline’s growing ambitions and operational capabilities.
Unique Position in the Market
Peach Aviation will be the sole Japanese carrier operating direct flights between Osaka and Singapore. The route will compete with established players like Singapore Airlines, which operates three daily flights using Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft.
Low-cost subsidiary Scoot also provides daily services with Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft. Interestingly, Scoot occasionally adds a touch of whimsy to the route with its popular Pokémon-themed aircraft.
Airbus A321LR Operations
The new Singapore service will be operated using Peach’s single-aisle Airbus A321LR (Long Range) aircraft.
Introduced to the fleet in 2021, Peach was the first airline in Japan to operate this modern narrowbody aircraft type. The A321LR offers significant technological advantages, promising 20% improved fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor, the A320ceo.
Passenger Comfort and Convenience
Peach has thoughtfully designed its aircraft to provide a comfortable flying experience. The A321LR features seats with up to 32 inches of pitch.
This is a generous offering that exceeds many low-cost carrier standards and rivals full-service airlines. Each seat is also equipped with a USB charging port, ensuring passengers can keep their devices powered throughout the journey.
Summary
This expansion demonstrates Peach Aviation’s commitment to growth, technological innovation, and passenger comfort. By connecting Osaka and Singapore with an efficient, modern aircraft, the airline is positioning itself as a competitive player in the international low-cost aviation market.
As travelers seek more affordable and flexible travel options, Peach Aviation’s new route offers an attractive alternative for those looking to explore between Japan and Singapore.
