Overflowing Toilet!: American Airlines AA36 Dallas-Madrid Diverts to New York

American Airlines flight AA36 between Dallas and Madrid had to divert to New York JFK due to a toilet overflowing onboard the Boeing 777.

Information has been released pertinent to this incident, which we will get into in this article.

American Airlines flight AA36, which suffered the overflowing toilet in New York, is a routine scheduled flight between Dallas and Madrid.

Furthermore, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident was N751AN.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N751AN is a 23.4 year old Boeing 777-200 that was delivered to the airline in April 2001.

Also, of the 777-200 variant, American Airlines has 47 of them in their fleet.

Moreover, of that 47, all but one are in active service, with an average fleet age of 23.7 years.

As well as the 777-200, the airline has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:

  • 133 Airbus A319s.
  • 48 Airbus A320s.
  • 298 Airbus A321s.
  • 365 Boeing 737s.
  • 20 Boeing 777-300ERs.
  • 59 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

In total, the airline has 970 aircraft in their fleet, of which 944 are in active service, and the average fleet age sits at 13.6 years.

American Airlines flight AA36, which suffered the overflowing toilet in New York, departed Dallas at 1752 local time on August 7, originally bound for Madrid.

Over NY State is when the incident began to develop, as per The Aviation Herald.

From there, the crew deviated south towards JFK, where the aircraft landed safely without further incident after around three and a half hours in the air.

Aircraft Grounded Following Overflowing Toilet…

Following the incident involving the overflowing toilet in New York onboard American Airlines flight AA36 Dallas-Madrid, N751AN was grounded overnight.

Data from RadarBox.com highlights that on August 8, the aircraft appeared to continue on to the Spanish destination as AA94.

The flight arrived in the early hours of this morning (August 9).

At the moment is expected to operate a flight back to the U.S.

No additional incidents have been reported with the aircraft following the August 7 diversion.
