My 1,000th Article: My Take On 2022 So Far…

LONDON – As I celebrate the milestone of my 1,000th article for AviationSource, I want to give you my take on what has been a crazy 2022 so far!

A Note From Me/The Editor: My Take On 2022 So Far…

2022 has been one hell of a year so far, and it hasn’t even finished yet. There have been so many crazy stories that even picking 20 notable stories was difficult in itself.

With this article being angled more towards me hitting a milestone of 1,000 articles, I want to first make this about my team of amazing writers and photographers at AviationSource!

As an editor, I can be a massive pain in the backside! But despite this, they have stuck with me and have produced some incredible stories over the course of this year.

With that in mind, I would like to thank the following people on our team for their continued hard work and dedication to propel this business to where it needs to be:

It’s also been a year where we have been able to advance very quickly.

Earlier this year, we announced that we hit one million views, but that figure has since doubled to two million in a matter of months!

I would like to thank those who take the time to read our content every day. Yes, that goes to all two million of you!

It’s been a year of highs and probably lows (If you live in the UK, of course!), but one thing that I do want to say is that we, as an industry, will get there.

The aviation industry has been hit substantially by the likes of COVID-19, the Ukraine Crisis, and, subsequently, an upcoming global recession.

One thing that I have learned from being an avid follower of this industry since I was a young boy was that despite its volatility, the aviation industry always gets through to the other side.

It’s been the same for even us. We have had to make decisions that we are not particularly fans of, and just roll with the punches, and still continue to do so.

We would encourage you that if you haven’t already, to consider donating to AviationSource so then, we can continue to bring out the best content that we possibly can. You can donate below:

Once again, thank you so much for your love and support, and we will be bringing out some new features very soon, so keep an eye out!

Anyways, back to the story…

There are so many moments to choose from, so here are what I think are 20 of the most notable news stories of the year so far.

20 Notable Stories…

[give_form id=”15485″]

This was quite the way to start 2022, with Emirates taking their stunt marketing to a whole new level by putting a flight attendant at the top of the Burj Khalifa.

[give_form id=”15485″]

The Airbus-Qatar standoff is a story that is still developing even to this point, with each side fighting over who can come out victorious on the Public Relations front.

[give_form id=”15485″]

Qatar ordering these aircraft was quite a milestone for Boeing, especially when it came to Al Baker effectively giving the middle finger to Airbus.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This had to be the most ridiculous story I have reported on this year. It was very bad for Yaw Kwakwa, who didn’t know he got fired by the Ghana Airports Company.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This period of the year was when things were beginning to go quite downhill, with the Ukraine Crisis at its earliest stages at this point.

[give_form id=”15485″]

The aviation industry had to mourn the loss of an incredible feat of engineering. Let’s hope Antonov can get one rebuilt for the future.

[give_form id=”15485″]

Manchester Airport was in the press quite a lot due to the handling of passengers and the disruption that came with it over the course of the Summer 2022 season.

[give_form id=”15485″]

Another bizarre story here – It’s good that he got caught in the end.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This was probably my most popular story of the year, which was mentioned by multiple media outlets around the world. I am glad that there weren’t any fatalities in the incident.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This was a crazy video that surfaced on the internet; I’m surprised that no one got injured from this dangerous act.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This event was probably something that angered me the most. I am glad now that Privilege Style has said that they will no longer partake in these sorts of flights.

[give_form id=”15485″]

The Farnborough Air Show 2022 was possibly the highlight of my year, but also AviationSource’s as well. My team did an amazing job with the coverage, and it was great to see old-standing friends again!

[give_form id=”15485″]

My most popular exclusive piece! It was an issue definitely worth highlighting, especially if there had been issues with the A400M.

[give_form id=”15485″]

Another sad period in the year was HM Queen Elizabeth II passed away in Balmoral and the subsequent events that took place there.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This was quite an interesting piece to cover, as Wizz Air managed to successfully extract an Airbus A320 out of Lviv, Ukraine.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This was another interesting story, as United Airlines continues to have problems with the engines on the Boeing 777-200s in their fleet.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This was another exclusive I was quite proud of, as some airlines definitely need exposing, especially when it comes to their practices that instantly put passengers at a disadvantage.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This was a crazy period, which only happened recently. I am glad that everyone was safe, but I bet the passengers were annoyed with the UK MOD about it being the wrong flight.

[give_form id=”15485″]

This news story was probably a game-changer in terms of how the American airline industry is going to change, especially after the massive battle between Frontier & JetBlue to merge with Spirit.

[give_form id=”15485″]

Finally, this was a very intense story. Those pilots were lucky, eh?

[give_form id=”15485″]

Everyone, once again, thank you for continuing to follow AviationSource for your everyday news coverage of all things aviation! We are eternally grateful!
