Norse Atlantic Airways has closed 2024 with a record, achieving its highest-ever monthly load factor in December.
The airline boasted a remarkable 94% load factor, a substantial 23-percentage point surge from the 71% recorded in the same month of the previous year.
This impressive performance underscores the airline’s growing popularity and robust demand for its transatlantic services.
During December 2024, Norse Atlantic operated 434 flights, successfully transporting 124,450 passengers across its network and through its Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) and charter operations.
This represents a substantial 57% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period in 2023.
Operational Efficiency and Punctuality
The airline demonstrated a strong commitment to operational efficiency. A commendable 53% of flights departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time. Notably, an impressive 100% flight completion rate was achieved.
While arrival punctuality was slightly lower at 33% within 15 minutes of schedule, it’s important to note that the peak travel season inevitably presents operational challenges.
Navigating Operational Headwinds
Norse Atlantic faced some headwinds during the month. Air traffic control (ATC) and air traffic flow management (ATFM) restrictions were encountered en route.
This was compounded by airport-related challenges common during peak season, which impacted flight operations. Despite these obstacles, the airline maintained a high level of service.
ACMI/Charter Growth
A key driver of Norse Atlantic’s success in December 2024 was the substantial growth in its ACMI/charter services.
The airline operated 158 flights under these agreements, a significant increase from the 22 flights conducted in December 2023.
This segment is becoming increasingly important for the airline, contributing significantly to its overall passenger numbers and revenue streams.
Outlook
Norse Atlantic’s record-breaking December performance demonstrates the airline’s resilience and ability to capitalize on growing transatlantic travel demand.
The continued expansion of its network and the increasing importance of ACMI/charter operations position the airline for further growth and success in the competitive aviation market.
