LONDON – The world’s longest 737 MAX flight returns after 2 years of absence.

GOL, one of Brazil’s largest low-cost carriers is now resuming flights to Orlando in the USA from Brazil’s capital Brasilia.

GOL’s Commercial Manager Luis Teixeira, for International Markets, said: “Florida is a tourism paradise not only for Brazilians but also for many Americans.”

“Orlando is known as the Fun Capital of the World and will again be a destination for our customers. GOL’s presence in both Orlando and Miami promises to shorten the distance between the United States and Brazil increasingly.”

The resuming of the route means better connections between the two cities and finally, many Brazilians can now enjoy a much-deserved holiday in Florida after 2 years of hiatus.

Back on March 21, 2020, was the last time GOL operated flights between Brasilia and Orlando before resuming the route.

The last flights were operated under G37602 and G37601 with a Boeing 737-800 and had a stopover in Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic.

Non-stop flights between the two cities weren’t possible due to the Federal Aviation Administration hadn’t recertified the MAX aircraft hence the tech stop.

On 13th May 2022, GOL Airlines resumed the legendary flight to Orlando as G37602 from Brasilia with the 737-8 MAX with the aircraft registration of PR-XMF.

The route covers an impressive stance of 6,080 kilometers or 3,777 nautical miles, crowning it to be the longest MAX flight with a total flight time of 8 hours and 20 minutes!

GOL will now operate the longest MAX route four times a week. This route dethrones the Brasilia to Cancun route, at 6,079 kilometers, to be the longest MAX flight in the world, also operated by GOL.

The previous longest MAX flight time is approximately seven and a half hours.

The schedule of the longest Boeing 737-8MAX is as follows:

FromToDepartureArrivalDays
Brasilia (BSB)Orlando (MCO)9:50 AM5:10 PMMon-Wed-Fri-Sat
Orlando (MCO)Brasilia (BSB)10:10 PM7:10 AM +1Mon-Wed-Fri-Sat

The route is not only made possible by strong demand from local Brazilians to the United States but a series of partnerships with American companies,  such as American Airlines and Universal Studios Orlando. Doing so promotes the entertainment attraction itself and generates extra demand.

Luis Texeira added: “GOL is a partner company of the city of Orlando and Visit Orlando, which represents all the parks and attractions that the location offers.”

“For the resumption of this important international route, Universal wanted to team up with GOL and support us in this press trip with journalists and influencers.”

“We are very happy and excited to be able to provide these people with a tour to one of the most visited parks in Orlando.”

Furthermore, GOL’s partnership with American Airlines allows passengers to connect via Miami easily to other destinations in the States with its Oneworld alliance partner airline.

The resuming of this route is hugely popular for Brazilian holiday goers, as this means better connectivity to Orlando and other parts of the United States.
