LONDON – The Russian MOD has released clearer images of the destruction of the Antonov AN-225 Mriya, adding further confirmation to its demise.

Photos…

Closer up, it shows that the nosecone of the Mriya is full of bullet holes as well as an overall photo of the destruction that took place in the central areas of the fuselage.

Confirming What We Already Know…

Such images confirm what we already know about the demise of the Mriya, with the base Gostomel being subject to three battles between Russian and Ukrainian forces at present.

On March 24, it was reported that Antonov is in the process of crowdfunding for the redevelopment of the jet, as it aims to get the jet back in the air once the crisis is over.

The first set of clearer images of the Mriya was revealed on March 3, with footage also emerging of the aircraft in flames as well.

Such footage came following confirmation from the Ukrainian Government that the aircraft had indeed been destroyed in the attacks.

What Next?

We, first of all, have to wait for the conflict to come to an end before Antonov can begin picking up the pieces of its destroyed aircraft.

The Ukrainian aerospace company will have to hope that donations come in for the aircraft redevelopment, as it is pretty certain that the Russians will not pay for the damages, despite previous emotive messages saying they will.

It will be interesting, when we look ahead of course, to see the Mriya back in the air, as well as the hope that the second undeveloped one is built as well as it would definitely be double the enjoyment to see in the air.

This is a developing story.
