LONDON – Following sanctions implemented by the UK’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, Russia has banned all carriers in that region from entering its airspace.
Yesterday, Johnson took the decision of banning Aeroflot from operating into the UK, with the following NOTAMs instigated from the Department for Transport:

According to The Moscow Times, the ban took effect at 11 am Moscow Time, with Rosaviatsia saying the following in a statement:
“A negative response was received from U.K. colleagues this morning”.
It is understood that the British carriers were scheduled to perform two London-Moscow flights and 70 transit flights through Russia today.
We have approached the UK CAA for comment on Russia’s actions, but in this perspective, it does appear that each side has acted lawfully as per the Chicago Convention.
This is a developing story.
