Ukraine Crisis: Manchester United Cancels Sponsorship Deal with Aeroflot

LONDON – Manchester United Football Club has today announced the cancellation of its sponsorship deal with Russian carrier Aeroflot.

This comes following the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces, as well as the UK taking the decision to ban Russian carriers from operating into the UK.

A spokesperson for the club said the following:

‘In light of events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights. We share the concerns of our fans around the world and extend our sympathies to those affected.’

United used Titan Airways instead for its charter flight to Madrid for its game against Athletico Madrid earlier this week.

This of course makes sense, especially with Aeroflot banned from the UK, but also on the PR front.

The team doesn’t want to be seen in a light to be supporting Russian companies such as Aeroflot.

This is a developing story.
