LONDON – Elix Aviation recently delivered two ATR 72-500s to VoePass (Voepass Linhas Aéreas) a regional airline based in Brazil. The two regional turboprops are MSN 748 and MSN 760 and are on lease.
This win-win situation means that the airline is expanding rapidly in the country, and gives the Irish-based company a larger footprint in Latin America.
VoePass Airlines operates major regional props aircraft and has a handful of 737s on order. In fact, this little-known airline had 0.3% of the market share in Brazil prior to the pandemic, as posted by the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC).
It is measured by revenue passenger kilometres (RPK). This means that the airline is the 5th largest airline in the country.
Moreover, the airline has its operating base in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo Region, Brazil at Dr Leite Lopes Airport. The airline itself was born in 1995 and has been ever since flying regionally throughout the country.
As of the time of writing, the airline has a team of 1,100 employees, with a footprint that covers 39 cities nationwide.
In addition, the airline operates 6 jets under a CPA agreement with a major Brazilian low-cost airline, GOL Airlines. VoePass also codeshares with GOL and LATAM, which is a huge benefit for the regional carrier.
The airline is also ANAC and IOSA certified airline and also fit for MRO certification, with ANAC and EASA. The current fleet portfolio consists of 13 ATR 72s and the shorter 42 variants.
Like any other aircraft leasing giant, Elix Aviation has its base in Dublin, Ireland. It is one of the world-renowned aircraft leasing organisations but rather focused on regional jets like the ATR recently leased out to VoePass for instance.
The leasing company was founded in 2013 and champions innovation and investment in the aviation industry.
The company itself has found its niche in leasing regional aircraft and has been working with operators and airlines in the regional short-haul discipline of commercial aviation.
Elix Aviation is equipped with teams of experts who are ready to assist clients worldwide. Apart from leasing services, the company also does asset management and financial solutions for prospective customers.
The ATR has been proven very popular, especially in Latin America. The ATRs themselves are workhorses for airlines like VoePass, and they are very popular with small carriers.
The ATR is one of the most fuel-efficient regional turboprops in the market and is a perfect machine for airlines wishing to become leaner and greener.
The aircraft, is great in the South American market, as it is capable of flying in treacherous terrain and operating in and out of small airstrips. Its low operating costs help the airline financially in the competitive regional market throughout Brazil, and even the continent.
