LONDON – Asian giant Singapore Airlines has announced today that it will re-establishing its stronghold in the key East Asian markets with added services and new routes, as the carrier is witnessing aggressive demand surge in post pandemic recovery phase.
The carrier has asserted that it will taking this strategic path as the border restrictions across many nations in the Asian region are practically over and the passenger movement has started developing in enormous magnitude.
Once known to capture the lion’s share of the market in the Asian continent with services spanning across all the key hubs and destinations via its mainline Singapore Airlines and LCC Scoot; the carrier had to diminish its network on the outburst of the pandemic era in early 2020.
But, after two harsh years with uncertainties, border closures and affected tourist & business activities, the carrier made effort worthy comeback in the post pandemic recovery face on the global aviation platform.
As the remaining few nations in the Asian continent have opened their borders for international tourists and VFR, the carrier has seen the multi-fold surge in the travel pattern within the East Asian markets.
This new opportunity has opened doors for the Singapore Airlines and its subsidiary Scoot to meet international travel demand over upcoming holiday season in December and Chinese New Year.
Singapore Airlines statement
Speaking on this announcement, Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President for Marketing and Planning, Ms. JoAnn Tan said that “Buoyed by the further easing of entry requirements in Hong Kong, SAR, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, China we are seeing strong demand for air travel towards the year-end holiday season.”
“Many customers are especially keen on destinations that have remained largely closed over the last few years. The SIA Group aims to offer even more value and options for our customers as they make their holiday plans, and we will be nimble in adjusting our services in response to the demand for air travel.”
The SIA Group has made distinctive and strategic choices for its frequency upgradation along with additional deployment to new destinations. The key nations that SIA has tapped are:
