LONDON – Qatar Airways, the leading Middle Eastern carrier has announced that they have entered into a strategic agreement with Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic Avionics) to provide its passengers with ground-breaking in-flight entertainment (IFE) with its new product Astrova, the newly developed technological masterpiece which will enhance passengers experience and operational efficiency.
The new Astrova by Panasonic Avionics will be installed onboard Qatar Airways 40 Boeing 777X fleets, which will make the carrier the first airline to sign such a remarkable deal and will be regarded as a global launch customer of Astrova.
Panasonic Avionics, one of the leading market leaders in the inflight entertainment system and innovation has brought its most advanced product ‘Astrova’ for the next generation inflight experience.
The new ambitious product Astrova will demonstrate Panasonic Avionics’ new approach to the market demand with innovation, thus helping airlines ‘achieve a powerful and targeted way of engaging with their passengers through IFE’.
On parallel notes, the new Astrova will benefit airlines from faster on-wing upgrades and maintenance, commonality in media loading, spares, and repairs, and significant weight reductions compared to other seat end architectures, states the Panasonic Avionics.
The new Astrova will also be contributing to Qatar Airways’ ongoing commitment to the environment and sustainability, and directly addresses both entities’ efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by the year 2050, Panasonic further added.
The Next Gen IFE
With demonstrations on display at an aviation event in Hamburg, Germany, the new Astrova of Panasonic Avionics took over visitors by the storm with its awestruck display.
The next-generation IFE experience by Panasonic Avionics offers a seat-end solution featuring a cinema-grade 4K OLED with HDR experience.
The new Astrova also features color modality with remarkable blacks and cinematic colors in the palette, OLED technology enhances the display quality, which makes the new system stand out in the motion picture experience.
The new Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777X will be equipped with Panasonic Avionics Astrova offering a 22-inch screen in Business Class and a 13-inch screen in economy class, elevating passengers’ experience to new levels.
Passengers on board Qatar Airways Boeing 777X can indulge in stunning visuals and enhanced HDR quality for a home theatre experience at 37,000 feet.
The new Astrova will also offer high-quality unsurpassed video performance along with high-fidelity audio, complimenting the experience with high-definition sound rather than traditional wired connections.
This will be powered by Panasonic Avionics’ award-winning Bluetooth technology.

Qatar Airways, as known for its hospitality, quality, and experience above clouds will be fitting Panasonic Avionics Astrova onboard its Boeing 777X with attention to detail.
The new monitors onboard 777X will be custom-made with a singular design featuring gentle curves, and softly rounded touchpoints, tempting passengers to indulge in the award-winning in-flight entertainment of Qatar Airways.
The new touchpoints will also feature programmable LED lighting that will enable airlines to optimize cabin environment and mood lighting according to flight phases in animated sequences synchronized to improve passengers’ experience and reduce eye strain.
