Continued Growth for oneworld…
oneworld continues to grow its portfolio of airlines entering the alliance in recent years.
The addition of Oman Air will be the third in the last three years.
This comes after Royal Air Maroc joined oneworld in April 2020, followed by Alaska Airlines in March 2021. From this, it remains clear that oneworld is wanting a high level of post-pandemic growth.
For Oman Air, their CEO Eng Abdulaziz Al Raisi believes this will be a defining moment for the airline:
“Oman Air’s admittance into oneworld represents a defining moment in our journey to provide passengers with greater travel options through our developing partnerships and alliances.”
“We’re delighted to be joining the world’s foremost airline alliance at a time when demand for travel is on the rise.”
“We look forward to welcoming oneworld members onboard Oman Air to experience the height of Omani hospitality and all that the Sultanate of Oman has to offer in terms of history, culture, and natural beauty.”
Clear Reasons…
Pre-oneworld, Oman Air offered significant connectivity, especially through operating to five specific destinations that fall under the remit of oneworld being:
- Amman, Jordan
- Colombo, Sri Lanka
- Doha, Qatar
- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- London Heathrow, United Kingdom
As oneworld mentions, the airline “joining oneworld will pave the way for additional codeshare opportunities, further enhancing global connectivity across the alliance’s network.”
It remains clear that this is yet another beneficial and successful move for Oman Air to make, and this definitely reciprocates itself onto the airline side.
Oman Air is now going to have significant access to other markets that it hasn’t previously operated in, which is going to boost revenue possibilities going into the future.
