Mas de Carga Becomes Americas Launch Customer of Airbus A330-200P2F

LONDON – Aerotransportes Mas de Carga has become the Americas launch customer of the Airbus A330-200P2F, with the first aircraft delivered this week.

The A330P2F is on lease from Altavair and was converted by Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), a joint venture between Airbus and ST Engineering.

Mas will benefit from a 61-tonne payload as well as a range of 4,200 miles, enabling the carrier to fly as far as China, an area where it is acquiring certification to fly into.

Commenting on the news was Arturo Barreira, the President of Airbus Latin American & The Caribbean:

“We look forward to having mas join the Airbus family of operators in Mexico and experience the benefits of operating this freighter.

“The A330-200P2F will provide mas with a highly-efficient operation thanks to its greater payload and range capability.”

“Its optimized fuselage cross-section offers flexibility to carry a wide variety of pallet and container sizes.”

“Airbus is confident that the A330-200P2F will successfully support mas’ expansion plans”.

Also commenting on the news was Luis Sierra, the CEO of Mas:

“Mas will take advantage of the increased payload and range of the A330 to expand our global presence, increasing flights to Europe and South America and starting to fly into China.”

“The A330P2F’s reliability and reduced environmental impact make it the ideal aircraft for mas to succeed in the global cargo market”.

Mas has been in operation since 1992, but in 2018, it went under an ambitious expansion plan under new owners, Discovery Americas, who now has the capacity to expand internationally.

EFW looks set to expand its conversion capacity in its China and U.S plants to the point of being able to deliver 60 aircraft per year by 2024, as the P2F market continues to expand.
