LONDON – On April 28, Jet2, the United Kingdom-based leisure carrier, announced it will be launching new routes to Sardinia and Sicily in Italy from two of its operating bases in the UK.
The new services will also be operated by Jet2’s main holiday division, Jet2 Holidays.
The New Services
The two UK bases in question are Manchester Airport (MAN) and London Stansted Airport (STN). However, Sicily services will also be operated from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) as well.
From London Stansted, the carrier will launch once per week services to Sardinia, namely the island’s capital Cagliari Elmas Airport (CAG) on a Sunday.
The service will run from May 15 till October 16, which is the end of the summer travel season in Europe.
Also from London Stansted, Jet2 will launch once per week services to Sicily, namely the island’s capital Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport (PMO) which will also be operated on a Sunday.
This service will run from May 1 to October 30.
From Manchester, the carrier will launch once per week services to Sardinia, namely the island’s capital Cagliari Elmas Airport (CAG) on a Sunday starting from May 1, however, this service will increase to twice per week from July 23 and run until September 24.

On top of the new Manchester and London Stansted services, Jet2 will also operate Sicily services from Leeds Bradford on a once per week basis on a Wednesday. This service will run from May 4 till October 26.
The launch of these new services to both Sardinia and Sicily will mark Jet2’s sixth and seventh overall destinations in Italy.
The other destinations are Rome, Pisa, Naples, Venice, and Verona.
Jet2’s Chief Executive Officer, Steve Heapy says, “We are delighted to be waving off our first flights to Sardinia and Sicily from Manchester and Stansted airports on Sunday.”

Most of these new services will be operated by Jet2’s existing Boeing 737, Boeing 757, and Airbus A321 fleet, which is set to go through a large renewal program when the airline begins to take delivery of their new order Airbus A321neo aircraft.
