LONDON – In breaking news, early reports are surfacing of heavy plumes of smoke issuing from the vicinity of the Paris Orly Airport (ORY) complex. Observations place the fire close to the Rungis market complex just outside of the airport perimeter.
It is not yet understood whether this will impact upon flight arrivals and departures from Orly Airport, however arrivals appear to be continuing at the time of writing.
Video footage surfacing on social media show the heavy plumes of smoke emanating from the fire. The Insider Paper captured footage of the incident from a vehicle, confirming the location as the Rungis market.
Further reports state that the source is a warehouse fire which broke out in the Chevilly-Larue sector. The smoke plume is visible from the centre of Paris, and it is understood that the Paris Fire Brigade (Pompiers Paris) are in attendance.
