LONDON – On May 23, it has been announced by Griffin Global Asset Management that they successfully delivered their first Airbus A321neo to IndiGo.
More A321neo’s…
Griffin Global Asset Management has so far delivered only one Airbus A321neo to the Indian LCC (low-cost carrier) IndiGo, also known as InterGlobe Aviation.
The aircraft in question is registered as VT-IMM and was delivered from the European aircraft manufacturing giant Airbus plant in Hamburg, Germany, specifically Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport (XFW).
This new aircraft for IndiGo uses their slightly newer, but more compact seating configuration of 232 all-Economy class seats, whereas some of their older A321neo aircraft have a 222 all-Economy class configuration.
Most of those aircraft were delivered from Airbus back between December 2018 and April 2020.
This aircraft is the first of a total of five purchase and leaseback transactions for Airbus A321neo aircraft to be delivered to IndiGo during May and June 2022.
Griffin Global Asset Management’s Vice President of Marketing, Michael Lombardi has commented on the new delivery saying, “We could not be more pleased to add IndiGo to our growing list of airline partners.”
“They have had tremendous success over the past decade and we look forward to supporting their continued growth as these five aircraft deliver in the coming weeks.”
Digging deeper into Lombardi’s comments, it’s evident that this may not be the only five aircraft that IndiGo will be leasing from Griffin Global Asset Management and it is fully expected that their fleet inventory with them will continue to grow as IndiGo rapidly expands into India’s largest airline and LCC.
IndiGo currently operates a fleet of 257 aircraft, including this new A321neo delivery from Griffin Global Asset Management. Their fleet number is broken down as, 35 ATR 72-600’s, 22 Airbus A320ceos, 141 Airbus A320neos, and 59 Airbus A321neos.
The carrier currently has further orders for 205 more Airbus A320neos, 248 Airbus A321neos, 25 Airbus A321LRs (Long Range), 54 Airbus A321XLR’s (Extra Long Range), and a further 10 ATR 72-600’s for a total of 542 additional new aircraft, which after the removal of their Airbus A320ceo’s, will leave them with a fleet of approximately 777 aircraft in total on all have been delivered.
IndiGo also serves nearly 100 destinations throughout mostly Southeast Asia and the Middle East from their eight hubs in India. Those eight hubs are, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD), Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Cochin’s International Airport (COK), Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), Chennai’s International Airport (MAA), Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD), and Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU).
