LONDON – In Cornwall news, Regional airline Flybe will return to Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) in late October, with twice-daily weekday flights to London Heathrow, and a daily service on weekends.

The Heathrow connection flights are set to commence from 30 October. For the north, flybe will also be adding a convenient daily link to Manchester.

A major development for Cornwall Airport

Maintaining non-stop access to Europe’s busiest hub, and increasing links to the heart of northwest England, is a major development for the Cornish airport. flybe’s Cornwall news was welcomed by Airport management, as an expansion of their connectivity, and the bolstering of route capacity.

Commenting on the proposed flight scheduling, Sam O’Dwyer, Managing Director, Cornwall Airport Newquay, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the new flybe as our 10th airline partner at Newquay.”

“With daily flights to both London Heathrow and Manchester starting this winter, these new routes will add much needed extra capacity as well as additional options for passengers on two of our major markets.”.

Flybe management statement

Having returned to the skies under new ownership, the reborn flybe is aiming to take UK connectivity to a new era in a responsible and sustainable way.

Flybe CEO, Dave Pflieger, commented “We’re delighted to begin flights to and from Cornwall Airport Newquay, connecting one of the UK’s most popular year-round leisure destinations.”

“Passengers can benefit from up to twice daily flights from London Heathrow and a daily service from Manchester. Flybe provides passengers with convenience, choice and everyday great valuein addition to offering complimentary tea, coffee, juice and biscuits on all flights.”

An increased airline portfolio

With flybe servicing Cornwall in late October, Cornwall Airport Newquay’s airline portfolio will then expand to 10 operators in total: Aer Lingus, British Airways, Eastern Airways, easyJet, Edelweiss, Eurowings, flybe, Loganair, Ryanair and Skybus.

This represents an increase over previous services for the airport in the pre-pandemic era. This is an obviously pleasing outcome for the Airport, which has now refilled most of its route map as the industry recovers from the 2-year hiatus.

“Offering more airline choice and year-round connectivity is a key focus for us and we’re delighted that this latest announcement offers both of these,” concluded O’Dwyer.

Fares for the new flybe services will start from £49.99 to London Heathrow and £29.99 to Manchester, and are now on sale via flybe as of Monday 22 August.

Cornwall Airport Newquay also provides year-round flights to Dublin with Aer Lingus, Manchester and Edinburgh with Loganair, twice daily flights to London Gatwick with Eastern Airways as well as providing a year-round international flight to Alicante with Ryanair.
