LONDON – Etihad Cargo has appointed Caroline Pappas as the new General Manager for the American continent, which is based in Chicago.

Caroline Pappas

Caroline Pappas is very experienced in the field of the air freight industry. Having worked 30 years in different companies, such as at British Airways, or Virgin Atlantic.

She has been instrumental in negotiating and securing long-term contracts with global freight forwarding customers and shippers, identifying and implementing marketing and sales strategies, and identifying strategic opportunities to increase market share and revenues.

“Etihad Cargo is delighted to welcome Caroline to the team,” said Tim Isik, Etihad Cargo’s recently appointed Vice President of the Commercial sector.

“Caroline’s appointment further strengthens Etihad Cargo’s commercial team in the region. I have every confidence Caroline’s experience and knowledge will contribute to Etihad Cargo’s long-term plans for US expansion and further cement the carrier’s position as the air cargo partner of choice for Etihad Cargo’s customers in the Americas.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining Etihad Cargo and working alongside such an accomplished team,” said Pappas of her appointment.

“As Etihad Cargo continues its ambitious growth plans in the region, I am looking forward to working closely with Mark and the rest of Etihad Cargo’s commercial team to achieve the carrier’s future objectives.”

Etihad Cargo uses the belly space of its fleet to transport cargo on a daily basis to New York Washington, Chicago, and six flights per week to Toronto.

Etihad Cargo also operates 2 full freighter flights per week to Chicago via Europe, which is supported by an offline network.

Veteran

Pappas is a very good choice for airlines such as Etihad, as having veterans such as her in your team gives Etihad a huge advantage compared to other airlines. It would also give the added benefit that she would bring potential customers alongside her to Etihad.

Caroline Pappas started her carrier at Sabena as Account Executive and grew her way up at different companies and airlines before ending up at Etihad.

Etihad Cargo operates a vast network which is mainly operated by their commercial fleet, which is using the belly space for cargo. Etihad Cargo also operates 5 full freighter planes.

The appointment of Caroline Pappas comes soon after the appointment of their new Vice President of the Commercial sector, Tim Isik.

Tim Isik comes from American Airlines where he has worked in both the commercial and the cargo sector of the airline.

At Etihad Cargo, his new role will be to oversee the development and deployment of the carrier’s sales strategy and be responsible for further growing Etihad Cargo’s strategic relationships, executing sales and marketing plans and driving team performance.

“Etihad Cargo is delighted to have Tim on the team. I am confident his knowledge and expertise will contribute to Etihad Cargo’s continued growth, enabling the carrier to further strengthen its position as the air cargo partner of choice,” said Drew.

Isik said, “It’s an exciting time to be joining Etihad Cargo, following the carrier achieving a milestone year in 2021. I look forward to working closely with Martin and the rest of the team as Etihad Cargo continues its journey of growth through innovation and successfully adapting to the needs of customers and the dynamic challenges of the air cargo market.”
