According to police, ground crew who were carrying out maintenance work on the aircraft in a hangar at Frankfurt discovered the body. It was reported that maintenance activities had been in progress for four hours before the body was discovered.

According to the Lufthansa website, the same flight number scheduled for today (Friday) has now been cancelled.

The incident comes after a period of unrest after the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish woman in custody while on a visit to Tehran. The young woman was allegedly wearing her headscarf incorrectly under the country’s severe hijab regulations

No further details as to the deceased person’s identity or the circumstances have been disclosed. The airline and police authorities are yet to make a formal statement on the incident.
