LONDON – The German daily news source Bild has reported that the body of a deceased person has been discovered in the undercarriage bay of a Lufthansa aircraft at Frankfurt airport.
The aircraft, an Airbus A340-300 registered D-AIGW, was operating as Flight #LH601 from Teheran. The aircraft had departed Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) early on Thursday morning.

According to police, ground crew who were carrying out maintenance work on the aircraft in a hangar at Frankfurt discovered the body. It was reported that maintenance activities had been in progress for four hours before the body was discovered.
According to the Lufthansa website, the same flight number scheduled for today (Friday) has now been cancelled.
The incident comes after a period of unrest after the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish woman in custody while on a visit to Tehran. The young woman was allegedly wearing her headscarf incorrectly under the country’s severe hijab regulations
No further details as to the deceased person’s identity or the circumstances have been disclosed. The airline and police authorities are yet to make a formal statement on the incident.
