LONDON – Turkish-based leisure carrier Corendon Airlines has announced that it will be doing its first winter season too and from the United Kingdom, this comes following the successes that their current summer season is booming.

Winter is coming…

Corendon Airlines will be offering flights from five UK airports to Antalya in Turkey as part of its winter offering.

Those five UK airports are London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, and Glasgow.

London Gatwick will be operated three times per week, Manchester will be twice per week, Birmingham will also be twice per week and both Glasgow and Newcastle will be once per week.

These services will all be operated by Corendon’s Boeing 737 fleet. Of which they currently have 29 in their fleet, one of those 29 is a Boeing 737 MAX 8.

They do also have three Airbus A320s on lease from GetJet Airlines in Lithuania and Danish Air Transport (DAT) to help backfill their need for more aircraft during the summer season whilst they await further deliveries of the Boeing 737 MAX 8’s.

Commenting on the announcement was Corendon Airlines’ Commercial Director, Mine Aslan:

“This is our first full summer season in the UK, and sales to date are very encouraging. Antalya is a fantastic winter destination, popular with couples and golfing groups.”

“We wanted to continue to build on the success of our current regional departures, so we feel this Antalya program should achieve this.”

Corendon’s Summer 2022 Plans for the UK…

Not only will the UK benefit from Corendon’s winter services, but some other countries within Europe will also see a winter schedule from Corendon.

Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium will all get services to winter destinations throughout Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, and Israel.

At present for their summer 2022 season within the UK, Corendon serves a plethora of destinations from those five main airports.

  • London Gatwick has summer services to Heraklion and Rhodes in Greece as well as Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman in Turkey.
  • Manchester also has summer services to Heraklion and Rhodes in Greece as well as Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman in Turkey.
  • Birmingham has summer services to Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey.
  • Glasgow also has summer services to Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey.
  • Newcastle also has summer services to Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey.

Who is Corendon Airlines?

Corendon Airlines although fairly new to the UK market; however, they have been around for quite a number of years, mostly operating throughout continental Europe.

They are considered a group of airlines as they consist of the mainline Corendon Airlines based out of Turkey, Corendon Airlines Europe based out of Malta, and also Corendon Dutch Airlines based out of the Netherlands.

Mainline Corendon Airlines has operating bases out of Antalya Airport (AYT) and Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB). Corendon Airlines Europe, although headquartered in Malta, they operate mostly out of Germany from Münster Osnabrück International Airport (FMO), Nuremberg Airport (NUE), Hannover Airport (HAJ), Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) and finally EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL) in the French Alsace region. Corendon Dutch Airlines operates out of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) as well as Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST).

Overall…

It is evident that alongside Turkish Airlines and SunExpress’ services to and from the UK, Corendon is now also seeing a huge uptake in passenger numbers for many people going to Turkey and Greece, not just for their summer vacations but for winter getaways too.

It will be great to see how Corendon grows within the UK aviation sector and if we’ll see any more destinations being served by them.
