LONDON – Voyager Aviation Holdings has today announced the delivery of the first of five Airbus A220s bound for a long-term lease with Breeze Airways.

The five A220s destined for Breeze are a part of a sale and leaseback transaction it has with Voyager.

Executive Comments…

Commenting on the delivery was Voyager’s President & CEO Mike Lungariello:

“We are delighted to deliver our first A220 to Breeze and to begin our partnership with the airline and its management team”.

“It also aligns with our strategy to continue to diversify and grow new airline partnerships. The performance and fuel efficiency of this A220 aircraft is a key component of the Breeze business strategy. We look forward to the airline’s future growth and success.”

Also commenting on the delivery was David Neeleman, Founder & CEO of Breeze Airways:

“We’re thrilled to begin our partnership with Voyager Aviation with the first of five new A220s, with the sale/leaseback program”.

“We look forward to a long relationship as we continue to build our Airbus fleet.”

Breeze & The A220…

The Airbus A220 is going to form a big foundation of Breeze Airways’ business strategy as it continues to grow.

According to Planespotters.net, three A220s have been delivered up to now, meaning that the airline is still yet to receive 77 of the aircraft type.

Such a figure comes from the 80 that the airline has on order, with options for an additional 40 aircraft on a once-monthly delivery schedule according to Aviation Today.

Breeze will expand its fleet to 30 aircraft this year, 13 of which being A220s and the other 17 being Embraer jets.

Big Plans for the Summer… A Massive List!

These aircraft that are yet to be delivered will form the foundation for Breeze’s Summer 2022 plans, which are expansive.

Such an expansive route offering for the Summer reflects Neeleman’s desire to make this airline a big player in the market.

Overall…

It remains clear that Breeze Airways is most definitely on its way to some form of success, especially with the carrier wanting to start the Summer season on the right foot.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how the carrier does during the season, and whether Neeleman’s catalyst for growth is going to be the right strategy in a post-pandemic world.

Offering competitive fares within the Breeze network will definitely help with this, but with an impending pilot shortage as well, this could be a challenge for them!

All eyes on you, Neeleman!
