Bombardier announces new leadership in China

LONDON – Canadian manufacturing giant announces Jianwei Zhang as the Chairman of Bombardier China with immediate effect.

Bombardier is confident that they are making the right steps by appointing Mr. Jianwei Zhang as the new Chairman of Bombardier China.

This is seen as a significant step for Bombardier, as the Canadian manufacturer is confident that the Chinese market is growing despite draconian zero-covid policies.

China is one of the world’s largest business jet markets, and it is considered to be very lucrative.

With that being said, Bombardier’s footprint in China is large, where they have a dedicated aftermarket service at its Tianjin facility, a city near Beijing. Despite Canada’s uneasy relationship with the Chinese government, its business is as usual when it comes to aviation.

The Canadian firm is confident that it will still be China’s most popular business jet, rivalling that of the U.S based business jet manufacturer, Gulfstream.

Eric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bombardier said: “I am very happy to welcome Jianwei back to Bombardier, and back at the helm of our important outpost in China.”

“With his strong connections, outstanding reputation and deep understanding of China and the West, Jianwei is the perfect ambassador for our company and will provide a welcome bridge between the different cultures to further reinforce Bombardier’s presence and impact in China’s business aviation market.”

He added that:  “His appointment, along with our active service centre in Tianjin, are testaments to our long-term commitment to China as a key strategic market and the importance we place on supporting our customers in the region.”

Prior to his appointment, Zhang was also previously part of the experienced Bombardier’s management team. Under his new role, he will directly report to Eric Martel.

Zhang began his career at the Candian company as a project manager in 1995. Since then, he has held key positions, and in 1997 was quickly promoted to Director, Project and Business Development, and to Vice President of Bombardier Transportation, China in 1998.

In 2005, he was chosen to be the Chief Country Representative of both Bombardier Transportation and Aerospace. Zhang thus brings 26 years of experience to this new role.

Bombardier has a large footprint in the country, with various modern business jets both Challenger and Global aircraft families flying. Tianjin is where the excellence centre is located and is where aircraft fly there for maintenance and support services.

Bombardier is one of the world’s frontrunners in business jet manufacturing, design and servicing.

The two model includes the short to medium-haul Challenger and longer haul Global families.

There are currently 5,000 aircraft flying that is made by Bombardier, owned and operated by ultra-high network individuals, corporations, governments & militaries, charters, and airliners.

Bombardier is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It’s got completion centres in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Other strategic locations, such as support networks, marketing and customer service are spread globally, from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, the UAE, Singapore, China and an Australian facility soon to be opened this year.
