LONDON – Air Tahiti Nui has today announced the debut of its first and the only non-stop direct service connecting the south pacific and the pacific northwest, with a flight connecting Seattle-Tacoma International airport and Papeete, Tahiti.

New Service, New Opportunities

The new service will be operated on a twice-weekly schedule and operated by the airlines Boeing 787-9 Dremaliners, with some of the most competitive fares for this type of service making it a highly competitive and lucrative market option.

Michel Monvoisin, CEO of Air Tahiti Nui said: “Our new route provides a chance for North American travelers to discover the beauty of the 118 Islands of Tahiti, including Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea and Rangiroa, which serve as the background to the many wonders to discover, landscapes to explore, and memories to create,”

“In addition to our long-established route from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), this new gateway to The Islands of Tahiti brings the heart of the South Pacific to more travelers in North America and strengthens Air Tahiti Nui’s position as the leading carrier of French Polynesia.”

Partnership with Alaskan Airlines

The announcement and launching of this route come not long after the airline had announced its new codeshare partnership with U.S carrier Alaskan Airlines, which now means passengers travelling from Tahiti will be met with the option to seamlessly transfer and connect to flights over 100 cities across the US.

Nat Pieper, senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances at Alaska Airlines said: “Just as the weather begins to turn in the Pacific Northwest, our guests can now chase the warm sun all the way to Tahiti with a convenient nonstop flight from Seattle on Air Tahiti Nui,”

“Air Tahiti Nui is a terrific new global airline partner for us, further connecting the West Coast to the South Pacific with world-class service and amenities on their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner planes. With so much beauty, Tahiti is truly an aspirational destination.”

The two carriers also confirmed that they would be combining their frequent flyer programs, which means that there is even more on offer for their customers to be able to enjoy.

Award Winning Dreamliner

The design on the Air Tahiti Nui 787-9 Dremaliners was awarded the “Best Airline Design – Oceania Region” in the 2021 DesignAir awards, with the carrier also winning for the fourth consecutive year two other titles:

  • “Best Airline in the South Pacific,” Global Traveler GT Tested Awards
  • “APEX 5 Star Major Airline,” APEX Official Airline Ratings

Christy Reese, vice president of Commercial Sales – Asia Pacific, The Boeing Company said: “We are honoured to welcome Air Tahiti Nui and their Tahitian Dreamliners to Seattle,”

“As an all-Boeing operator, we are proud of our long-standing partnership with Air Tahiti Nui. This route launch is a momentous occasion and we are proud that the superior fuel efficiency, flexibility and range of Air Tahiti’s fleet of 787s contributed to connecting this new and unique city pair.”
