Japan Airlines (JAL) and IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost carrier, have announced a new codeshare partnership set to launch on 16 December 2024.
This strategic collaboration aims to enhance travel connectivity and promote cultural and business exchanges between Japan and India. It marks a significant milestone in international aviation cooperation between the two nations.
Increasing Japan-India Connectivity
The partnership will initially allow JAL to expand its reach across India. It plans to offer IndiGo customers broader access to JAL’s extensive domestic and international network in subsequent phases.
As India’s top airline with over 60% market share, IndiGo will collaborate with JAL on codeshare routes. These will connect to JAL-operated flights in Delhi and Bengaluru.
Currently, JAL operates daily flights from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Delhi and five weekly services from Narita Airport to Bengaluru. Through this new partnership, JAL will establish a comprehensive network across India. This will be connecting multiple major cities via its international routes.
