New Indian Airline Air Kerala Set For March 2025 Launch

Set to become India's first ultra-low-cost carrier, new start-up airline Air Kerala is aiming to launch domestic services in March 2025.

Air Kerala, a new Indian airline startup based in Kerala, is set to launch operations by March 2025. This follows a crucial meeting between its management, India’s Civil Aviation Minister Shri: Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, and senior officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The meeting focused on Air Kerala’s operational strategies and regulatory requirements as it prepares for takeoff. Zettfly Aviation Pvt Ltd, the new airline’s parent company, has named Mr. Harish Kutty as the airline’s CEO.

Mr. Afi Ahmed, Chairman of Air Kerala.com, expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re excited to have Mr. Harish Kutty lead the airline as CEO. His extensive aviation experience will be vital in achieving our goal of flying by March 2025.”

Civil Aviation Minister Mr. Kinjarapu Ram pledged full support for the airline’s plans. He stated, “The Government will provide all necessary help to ensure the airline obtains approvals and launches successfully. This is a major milestone for India’s aviation sector.”

The Minister also praised Mr. Afi Ahmed’s background in travel and tourism. “Mr. Afi Ahmed’s expertise will greatly benefit Kerala’s tourism and aviation landscape,” he added.

Air Kerala Background


Air Kerala is a promising new Indian airline based in Kerala. The airline will become India’s first ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC). UAE-based entrepreneurs Afi Ahmed and Ayub Kallada founded the airline, operating under Zettfly Aviation Pvt Ltd.

The new carrier plans to start with a fleet of three ATR 72-600 regional twin turboprop aircraft. The airline will initially focus on domestic routes, with plans to expand internationally by 2026.

Domestic Operational Plans


Mr. Ayub Kallada, Air Kerala’s Vice Chairman, emphasized the airline’s plans to improve cargo and perishable goods transport between Kerala and other regions. He also mentioned future seaplane services to boost Kerala’s regional tourism.

During the meeting, Mr. Harish Kutty presented Air Kerala’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and excellent service. He outlined plans for route expansions, market share growth, and strategic partnerships to establish the new carrier as a premium airline.

DGCA officials and others at the meeting praised Air Kerala.com’s dedication and assured full support for the regulatory approval process.

With ambitious plans, strong leadership, and government backing, Air Kerala.com is now poised to become the newest player in the burgeoning regional aviation industry by March 2025.
