Nesma Airlines A320-200 Return to Bari With Hydraulic Problem

A Nesma Airlines A320-200 bound for Catania, Sicily made a precautionary return to Bari (BRI) due to a hydraulic leak on 25 August.

A Nesma Airlines Airbus A320-200 operating the scheduled service from Bari, Italy to Catania, Sicily made a precautionary return to the origin airport due to a technical issue on 25 August 2024.

Nesma Airlines flight NE7131, a Boeing A320-200, had made a departure from RWY25 Bari International Airport-Karol Wojtyla (BRI).

During the subsequent climb procedure, the flight crew reported a hydraulic leak and terminated the climb. The decision was then made to make a precautionary return to Bari International Airport. The flight landed without further incident approximately 45 minutes after the initial departure.

A replacement aircraft was mustered by the airline to complete the scheduled flights to Catania–Fontanarossa Airport (CTA).

Limited flight data is available for the service. According to the online source Aviation Herald, the aircraft had climbed to flight level FL150 (15,000 feet) before the climb was terminated.

Aircraft Details


The aircraft conducting the NE7131 service to Catania (CTA) was an Airbus A320-200, registered SU-NML. This is a 12.2-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Nesma Airlines.

It has been an operational service with the airline since July 2022. Prior to its service with the airline it was operated by Gulf Air from its initial delivery from the factory in July 2012.
