What is a P2F Aircraft?

A P2F aircraft, short for Passenger-to-Freighter aircraft, has its basis as a commercial passenger airliner. The conversion process involves removing the passenger seats, galleys, and other passenger-related amenities to create a spacious cargo hold.

operators often convert older aircraft nearing the end of their passenger service life into P2F aircraft. By converting these aircraft into freighters, airlines can extend their operational lifespan and utilize them for cargo transportation.

Specialized companies that have the expertise and facilities carry out the conversion process. They hold approvals to modify the aircraft’s interior and systems to meet the requirements for cargo handling.

P2F aircraft offer several advantages, including:

  • Cost-effective: Converting an existing passenger aircraft into a freighter is often more economical than purchasing a brand-new cargo aircraft.
  • Efficiency: P2F aircraft are role designed to carry large volumes of cargo. This makes them efficient for transporting goods over long distances.
  • Flexibility: P2F aircraft can be adapted to carry a wide variety of cargo. This includes general cargo, express shipments, and specialized freight.
