In the last 30 minutes, Malaysia Airlines flight MH114 flying between Kuala Lumpur and Kathmandu declared an emergency on final into a diversion field of Yangon.
Information is limited surrounding this event, but below is what we know on this so far.

Emergency in Yangon: Malaysia Airlines MH114 Kuala Lumpur-Kathmandu…
Malaysia Airlines flight MH114, which declared an emergency in Yangon, is a routine scheduled flight between Kuala Lumpur & Kathmandu.
Also, the aircraft involved in the incident is understood to be 9M-MXQ.
As per data from Planespotters.net, 9M-MXQ is a 10.5 year old Boeing 737-800 that started out life with the airline back in January 2014.
Of the 737-800 variant, Malaysia Airlines has 42 of them in their fleet.
Within that 42, 38 are in active service, with four parked, with an average fleet age of 11.6 years.
As well as the 737-800, the airline also has the following aircraft in it’s fleet:
- 24 Airbus A330 Family aircraft.
- Seven Airbus A350s.
- Four 737 MAX 8s.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH114, which declared an emergency in Yangon, departed Kuala Lumpur at 2049 local time today and tracked towards Kathmandu.
Off the coast of Myanmar, the aircraft deviated in a track north towards the diversion field, and proceeded to descend.
From there, the aircraft appeared to make a safe landing into Yangon without further incident.
It is key to note that the 7700 emergency squawk was broadcasted when the aircraft was on base leg.
Reason for Diversion Unclear…
At this stage, it is unclear what the reason for the emergency in Yangon was for on Malaysia Airlines flight MH114 between Kuala Lumpur & Kathmandu.
