Luxair, Luxembourg’s national carrier, has further expanded its fleet by finalizing a firm order with Embraer for two additional E195-E2 aircraft.
These state-of-the-art small narrowbody jets represent the pinnacle of efficiency in the single-aisle segment.
Exercising Options on 2023 Order
By exercising two options from its comprehensive 2023 order, Luxair has now secured a total of six E195-E2 aircraft. The airline maintains flexibility with three additional purchase rights, which can be converted to E190-E2 models if operational requirements change.
The first aircraft from the original order is slated for delivery in early 2026, with this new order ensuring additional delivery slots in 2027 and providing the airline with a clear pathway for fleet modernization.
Luxair’s CEO Gilles Feith articulated the strategic decision behind this investment, positioning the new aircraft as more than just a fleet expansion. “These E195-E2 aircraft represent a transformative moment for Luxair,” Feith explained.
“Starting in 2026, we’ll embark on a new era of aviation that prioritizes environmental responsibility, operational efficiency, and passenger experience.”
The E195-E2’s advanced technological features align perfectly with Luxair’s forward-thinking approach. With remarkable fuel efficiency, reduced noise emissions, and a commitment to sustainability, these aircraft embody the airline’s vision of responsible growth.
The jets promise to deliver a significantly quieter cabin experience, addressing both environmental concerns and passenger comfort.
Embraer’s Marie-Louise Philippe from Commercial Aviation praised Luxair’s strategic decision, emphasizing how the E2 aircraft complement the airline’s existing fleet and operational model. “These aircraft represent a perfect synergy between technological innovation and airline requirements,” Philippe noted.
The advanced features of the E2 series enable airlines to simultaneously manage growth objectives and sustainability commitments.
Aircraft Cabin Configuration
The new aircraft will feature a cabin in single-class configuration, accommodating 136 passengers in Embraer’s acclaimed two-by-two seating arrangement.
This layout eliminates middle seats, ensuring greater passenger comfort and a more pleasant travel experience. Luxair has selected premium Recaro seats, available as Supplier Furnished Equipment (SFE), further demonstrating the airline’s commitment to passenger satisfaction.
