Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is set to see a boost in connectivity, thanks to the Lufthansa Group’s ambitious expansion plans.

As the market leader in Berlin, the Group is significantly enhancing its services, offering travelers a wider range of winter season destinations and increased flight frequencies.

SWISS Takes Off to Geneva

Starting October 28, SWISS will launch a daily flight from BER to Geneva. This new route will strengthen the connection between two of Europe’s most vibrant cities, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

Eurowings Adds Dubai and Jeddah

Eurowings, a Lufthansa Group subsidiary, has shown impressive growth at BER in 2024. In just six months, the airline has expanded its services to cover 30 destinations across Europe and the Gulf region.

This rapid expansion has led to a doubling of passenger volume since the pandemic, showcasing the region’s strong recovery in air travel.

Eurowings is set to reintroduce its popular nonstop Berlin-Dubai connection for the upcoming winter season. From October 2024, this route will see a significant boost, increasing from four weekly flights to a daily service.

To support this growth, Eurowings will station an additional aircraft at BER, bringing its total fleet at the airport to seven.

In a further development, Eurowings will also add Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to its flight schedule. Starting this winter, travelers can enjoy three weekly flights from Berlin to this bustling Red Sea port city.

Germany’s largest leisure airline isn’t stopping there. Eurowings has ambitious plans to further expand its network from Berlin in 2025, promising even more travel options for Berliners and visitors alike.

Lufthansa Group: Dominating the Berlin Market

The Lufthansa Group’s presence at BER is truly impressive. Collectively, its airlines – Austrian, Brussels, Eurowings, Lufthansa, and SWISS – operate around 27% of all flights at the airport. With approximately 500 flights per week, the Group connects the capital region directly to 36 destinations.

For those looking to explore further afield, the Lufthansa Group offers unparalleled connectivity. Travelers from Berlin can reach over 300 destinations worldwide with just one transfer, making global travel more accessible than ever.

Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), also known as Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg “Willy Brandt”, is the primary international airport serving Berlin, Germany. Located in Schönefeld, just south of the city, it replaced the former Tegel and Schönefeld airports.

As Berlin Brandenburg Airport continues to grow and evolve, the Lufthansa Group’s expanding services play a crucial role in cementing BER’s position as a key European hub. Whether its planning a city break to Geneva, a business trip to Dubai, or an adventure further afield, BER and the Lufthansa Group are moving to further carer for a wide spectrum of travelers.
