According to a passenger report, per the online source Aviation Herald, the captain advised a potential leak in the hot air bleed system from the engine.

Bleed air is filtered via duct into the aircraft cabin air conditioning system. Both engine and system reportedly appeared to be working normally. As a precaution, flight crew decided to carry out a diversion to nearby Rome.

The aircraft subsequently took up a diversion and descent for Rome Fiumicino airport as the aircraft passed to the east of Rome.
