London Gatwick: 250 Flights Per Week to Popular Winter Ski Destinations

With over 1 million Brits going skiing annually, London Gatwick offers over 250 flights to 15 ski destinations this winter season.

Winter sports enthusiasts can rejoice, with London Gatwick offering over 250 flights to 15 ski destinations this season. The majority of flights for snow seekers will operate between December and March.

Skiers and snowboarders from London and the South East can easily access slopes in France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Finland, and Bulgaria. Popular French ski destinations Chambery, Grenoble and Lyon will be among those served from London Gatwick this winter. The London airport provides more than 50 weekly flights to the popular French ski hubs – all part of VINCI Airports’ network.

Over 1 Million Ski Enthusiasts Each Winter


Skiing and snowboarding remains a popular leisure sports activity for Britons. Travel blog Battleface reports that about 1.5 million Brits go skiing annually, with 29% hitting the slopes twice a year. Clearly, there’s no business like snow business!

Stephanie Wear, VP Aviation Development at London Gatwick, shares: “We welcome over a million ski and snowboard enthusiasts every winter. It’s clear these destinations are a hit with our passengers.”

She adds, “This winter, we’re thrilled to offer such a wide range of options, connecting travelers to many of Europe’s finest ski resorts.”

Want to visit top-rated Val d’Isere? It’s easily reachable from Chambery, Lyon, Grenoble, and Geneva airports. Chamonix is just over an hour’s drive from Geneva and Chambery.

For those looking for hidden gems, try these underrated resorts named by Conde Nast. First, there’s Villars-sur-Ollon, a mere 90-minute drive from Geneva. This charming Swiss resort offers stunning views of the Alps and a mix of slopes suitable for all skill levels.
