A LATAM Airlines Airbus A319-100 has veered off the runway during its landing at Chapecó Airport in Santa Catarina, Brazil.

During the landing at the destination, the aircraft, registered as PR-MYM, slid slightly off the runway but stayed within the airport’s boundaries.
Early reports suggest that the aircraft remained intact with no significant damage. They indicate that the event was likely a minor overrun rather than a more serious runway excursion.
The landing incident occurred in the evening of Monday 31 March, and details remain limited.
Chapecó Airport serves the western region of Santa Catarina, a smaller facility compared to São Paulo’s bustling Guarulhos.
The runway excursion could point to factors like weather, runway conditions, or pilot error, though no official cause has been confirmed yet.

LATAM Airlines issued a brief statement to its social media channel, confirming the incident. The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew were safe.
The region has a past history with aviation incidents and accidents, like the tragic 2016 Chapecoense crash.
Passengers and crew safely disembarked, and operations at the airport appeared unaffected by the runway excursion.
