Information has emerged that 14 people were injured onboard Korean Air flight KE197 between Seoul & Ulaanbaatar last weekend due to turbulence.
Limited information on the accident at hand is available, but below is what we know on this so far.

14 Injured by Turbulence!: Korean Air Flight KE197 Seoul-Ulaanbaatar…
Korean Air flight KE197, which was involved in the turbulence event which injured 14 people, is a routine scheduled flight between Seoul & Ulaanbaatar.
Furthermore, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident was HL7584.
As per data from Planespotters.net, HL7584 is a 24.2 year old Airbus A330-300 that was delivered to the airline back in May 2000.
Moreover, of the A330-300 variant, Korean Air has 20 of them in their fleet.
Of that 20, all but one are in active service, with an average fleet age of 19.7 years.
As well as the A330-300, the airline has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:
– 10 Airbus A220s.
– 11 A321s.
– 1 A330-200
– 8 A380s.
– 23 Boeing 737s.
– 19 Boeing 747s.
– 49 Boeing 777s.
– 15 Boeing 787s.
In total, the airline has 156 aircraft in their fleet, of which 146 are in active service, with an average fleet age of 11.7 years.
Korean Air flight KE197, which suffered the turbulence event injuring 14 people, departed Seoul at 0813 local time on August 4 and tracked north-westerly to Ulaanbaatar.
Furthermore, as per reporting from The Aviation Herald, it is understood the heavy turbulence happened over Tianjin.
The whole event lasted around 15 seconds.
A number of people onboard were lifted towards the cabin ceiling and thrown back to the floor.
Following that, the decision was made to continue on to destination as planned.
Korean Air flight KE197 safely landed into Ulaanbaatar from Seoul despite the turbulence event at 1025 local time.
No Damage To The Aircraft: Operated Return Flight…
It is understood that following the turbulence incident injuring 14 on HL7584, there appeared to be no damage on the aircraft operating Korean Air flight KE197 Seoul-Ulaanbaatar.
We know this was the case due to the fact that the aircraft operated the return flight back to the South Korean capital on time.
Data from RadarBox.com highlights that the return flight departed Ulaanbaatar at 1300 local time and arrived back into Seoull at 1710 local time.
Following that rotation, the aircraft has operated the following other flights:
– KE689 – ICN to Phnom Penh.
– KE690 – Phnom Penh to ICN.
– KE827 – ICN to Shenzhen.
– KE828 – Shenzhen to ICN.
– KE623 – ICN to Manila.
– KE624 – Manila to ICN.
– KE831 – ICN to Sheyang.
– KE832 – Sheyang to ICN.
– KE725 – ICN to Osaka.
– KE726 – Osaka to ICN.
Overall, no issues have been reported with the aircraft following the accident, and no additional status has been given on the injured passengers.
