Direct flights between Singapore and Medan resumed today as Jetstar Asia flight 3K285 departed Changi Airport. The airline now stands as the only budget carrier offering non-stop services on this popular route, marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity.

Operating daily flights with its expanding Airbus A320 fleet, Jetstar Asia will connect Singapore’s Changi Airport with Medan’s Kualanamu International Airport.

This service will add over 130,000 affordable seats yearly for travelers, significantly boosting accessibility between the two destinations.

Singapore-Medan Route Restoration

The reinstated route caters to both corporate and holiday travelers, enhancing connectivity between these major cities. Medan joins Jakarta, Denpasar, and Surabaya as Jetstar Asia’s fourth Indonesian destination, further strengthening the airline’s presence in the region.

Medan is known for its exceptional cuisine, multicultural heritage, and easy access to natural attractions like Lake Toba – the world’s biggest volcanic lake.

It appeals to visitors seeking city adventures and natural experiences. The city’s unique blend of Chinese, Malay, and Indian influences creates a distinctive cultural landscape that attracts tourists year-round.

Discussing the route’s revival after a four-year hiatus, Jetstar Asia CEO John Simeone expressed his enthusiasm.

“We’re thrilled to reconnect these dynamic cities with budget-friendly flight options. Medan holds special importance for our passengers, and this service reinforces our commitment to the Indonesian market,” he noted.

“Being the sole low-cost airline on this route reflects our dedication to affordable travel. I extend my gratitude to our staff and both airport partners for enabling this service restoration,” Simeone added.

Kualanamu Airport Welcomes Return

Kedar Deshpande, Commercial and Business Development Director at Kualanamu International Airport, welcomed Jetstar Asia’s return.

“Singapore continues to attract many travelers from our region, while Medan offers Singaporeans diverse weekend experiences – from wildlife encounters to food adventures and cultural exploration,” he said.

“We appreciate Jetstar Asia adding much-needed capacity to this important route. We look forward to collaborating on market growth and thank the Jetstar Asia team for their extensive cooperation,” Deshpande concluded.

The new service is expected to play a crucial role in boosting tourism and business ties between the two cities.
