JetBlue Airways has officially begun its new nonstop service between New York’s JFK Airport and Bonaire’s Flamingo International Airport.

The inaugural flight touched down today, marking the start of twice-weekly flights operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

This exclusive direct route completes JetBlue’s coverage of the ABC Islands – Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. JetBlue strengthens its Caribbean presence alongside St. Maarten service, establishing the airline as a dominant carrier in the region.

New York-Bonaire Inauguration

“Bonaire’s natural beauty, pristine beaches, and warm hospitality make it an exciting addition to our network,” said David Jehn, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning and airline partnerships. “This expansion shows our dedication to offering exceptional Caribbean getaways while boosting tourism and accessibility.”

“The addition of Bonaire to our route network represents our commitment to connecting travelers with unique destinations that offer unforgettable experiences.”

Miles Mercera, Tourism Corporation Bonaire’s CEO, welcomed the partnership with enthusiasm: “Adding JetBlue flights significantly improves North American access to our island.”

“This growth reflects increasing interest in Bonaire and highlights our commitment to sharing our unique culture and stunning landscapes with visitors. The direct connection from New York opens up tremendous opportunities for tourism growth and cultural exchange.”

Bonaire International Airport CEO Maarten van der Scheer added, “This year-round service from New York JFK represents tremendous collaboration among partners.”

“Together, we’ve achieved our goal of making Bonaire more accessible than ever to travelers. The introduction of this route marks a significant milestone in our airport’s development and the island’s tourism infrastructure.”

Discovering Bonaire’s Natural Wonders

Nestled in the Leeward Antilles, Bonaire offers authentic Caribbean experiences that set it apart from other destinations. Known as a “diver’s paradise,” the island features crystal-clear waters perfect for exploring vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life.

Visitors can indulge in world-class dining and luxury accommodations while enjoying outdoor adventures throughout the island.

The destination boasts impressive wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, alongside stunning desert landscapes, all bathed in year-round sunshine. Nature enthusiasts will particularly appreciate the island’s commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism practices.

Expanding Premium Travel Options

This new route advances JetBlue’s JetForward strategy, focusing on leisure and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) travel. From its New York hub, JetBlue now serves 34 Latin American and Caribbean destinations this winter – more than any competitor.

This expansion reinforces the airline’s position as a leading carrier for Caribbean travel, offering convenient scheduling options for both weekend getaways and extended vacations.

Passengers traveling on JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft will enjoy complimentary high-speed Fly-Fi internet access throughout their journey. The flight experience includes free snacks and beverages, with personal entertainment screens at every seat, all delivered with JetBlue’s award-winning service.

The aircraft’s comfortable seating configuration and modern amenities ensure travelers begin their Bonaire adventure the moment they step onboard, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination itself.
