JetBlue Launches New Service to St. Vincent and the Grenadines

JetBlue becomes the first US carrier to offer a nonstop service from New York JFK to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with its inaugural flight landing 9 October.

JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) has officially extended service to the Caribbean archipelago of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The airline’s inaugural flight from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) touched down at Argyle International Airport (SVD) on 9 October 2024.

It marks a significant milestone in Caribbean air travel and for the airline. JetBlue becomes the first U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service from New York’s JFK. This new service, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays, utilizes JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft.

Inaugural Service and a First for JetBlue


David Jehn, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning and airline partnerships, shared his enthusiasm about the new destination. “We are thrilled to welcome St. Vincent and the Grenadines to our growing network,” Jehn stated.

He went on to describe the islands as “an enchanting destination known for its unspoiled nature, sky-blue waters, and stunning landscapes.” This addition to JetBlue’s roster demonstrates the airline’s commitment to expanding travel options and introducing its renowned service to new markets.

The arrival of JetBlue has been met with great excitement by local officials. The Honorable Carlos James, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, gave comment. He hailed the event as “a major step forward in our tourism development efforts.”

He emphasized the importance of this new connection, particularly in strengthening ties with the Vincentian diaspora in New York and providing more seamless travel options for potential visitors.

A Milestone for Tourism and the Country


Annette Mark, CEO of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, echoed this sentiment. She described the inaugural flight as a milestone for both the tourism industry and the country as a whole.

Mark expressed confidence that JetBlue’s presence would enhance the islands’ visibility as a competitive Caribbean destination.

“We are committed to creating memorable experiences for all visitors,” she affirmed. “This new direct connection allows us to extend our warm Vincentian welcome to even more travelers.”

The partnership with JetBlue is also a significant development for Argyle International Airport. Josette Greaves, the airport’s Chief Executive Officer, welcomed JetBlue to their growing list of airline partners.

Greaves highlighted the airport’s role as a gateway for various travelers, including residents, diaspora members, and business and leisure guests. She emphasized their commitment to expanding travel options and enhancing connectivity with key destinations, including regional and domestic travel.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines


St. Vincent and the Grenadines, an archipelago comprising 32 islands and cays, offers a diverse array of attractions for visitors. Known for its warm hospitality, the nation boasts spectacular volcanic landscapes, pristine black and white sand beaches, and some of the Caribbean’s best sailing waters.

The islands’ rich biodiversity has earned them the moniker “Critter Capital of the Caribbean,” delighting nature enthusiasts.

Visitors can enjoy activities ranging from scuba diving and hiking to yachting and wildlife watching, with opportunities to spot whales, dolphins, and turtles in their natural habitat.

JetBlue East Coast Network


This new route is part of JetBlue’s broader strategy to strengthen its East Coast leisure network. This sees a particular focus on New York city.

The airline’s JetForward strategy emphasizes providing exceptional travel experiences to popular destinations while refocusing its network. JetBlue has become the first U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service from JFK to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The expansion marks another step in JetBlue’s growing presence in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.With this addition, the airline now serves 26 countries in these regions. It solidifies its position as a leading carrier for leisure and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) travel.

This new air link promises to boost tourism and strengthen cultural ties. It offers travelers an easier way to experience the unique charm and beauty of this Caribbean paradise.
