JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) has announced several strategic changes to invest and grow across New England.
The airline plans to increase its seat capacity by a whopping 20% this winter. This expansion moves to reinforce JetBlue’s position as the go-to airline for the region.
At the heart of this growth strategy is a multi-pronged approach that includes boosting flights from existing hubs and venturing into new territories.
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), JetBlue’s stronghold in the region, will see a significant uptick in flights. But the airline’s ambitions extend far beyond Boston proper.
New England Expansion
In a move that’s sure to delight New Hampshire residents, JetBlue is spreading its wings to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT).
This expansion marks Manchester as JetBlue’s tenth New England airport, following the recent addition of Presque Isle, Maine, to its network.
Starting January, Manchester will enjoy year-round daily flights to Orlando, along with seasonal winter services to Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers.
The Fort Lauderdale route is particularly noteworthy as it will be the only nonstop flight available on this path.
Marty St. George, JetBlue’s president, expressed the airline’s deep-rooted connection to the region: “Our commitment to Boston and our loyal customers across New England is unwavering.”
“With each new development, each new route, we aim to deliver even greater comfort and convenience, ensuring that our customers’ choice is easy, and they always receive the best that JetBlue has to offer.”
Big in Boston
JetBlue’s dominance in Boston and New England is nothing short of impressive. The airline boasts the most mainline service from Boston, offering approximately 30% more mainline seats than its closest competitor.
It also leads in the number of nonstop destinations from Boston and operates the most flights from the region to California, Florida, and the Caribbean.
This expansion will only cement its status as New England’s premier carrier. The airline is significantly boosting its presence in other New England airports.
Providence, Rhode Island, will see an astounding tripling of JetBlue seats this winter compared to last year.
Meanwhile, Hartford, Connecticut, is set for a 30% increase in seat capacity over the same period.
For Boston Logan, JetBlue’s home for over two decades, the future looks brighter than ever. The airline is ramping up flights to a plethora of popular vacation spots. These include Aruba, Barbados, Cancún, Grand Cayman, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Liberia, Miami, Montego Bay, Nassau, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Punta Cana, Providenciales, Sarasota, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Tampa, and more.
A standout addition to the Boston offerings is a second daily nonstop flight to Phoenix. This route will now feature JetBlue’s premium Mint® service on all flights, bringing a touch of luxury to the cross-country journey.
Summary
In total, this expansion will see JetBlue adding an average of 18 new daily departures from New England this winter.
Six new routes will strengthen the connection between New England and the Sunshine State, making those winter getaways more accessible than ever.
This massive growth initiative is a shout out to JetBlue’s dedication to its New England roots. By offering more flights, more destinations, and more convenience, JetBlue opens up a broader scope for New England travelers.
As winter approaches, New Englanders can look forward to more options, better connectivity, and the top-notch service that has become synonymous with the JetBlue name.
