A JetBlue flight departing Boston for San Juan, Puerto Rico, returned to Boston Logan International Airport after reporting a hydraulic problem on 19 April.
JetBlue flight B6861, operated by an Airbus A321-200, had conducted a departure from runway 09 Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
The aircraft was conducting a regular scheduled flight bound for San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU).

Shortly after takeoff, flight crew encountered an issue with the aircraft’s landing gear. The departure procedure was terminated, and the aircraft was placed in a holding pattern to allow the crew to run troubleshooting checks.
From the holding pattern, the flight crew further advised that the aircraft had suffered a hydraulic failure.
Accordingly, flight crew elected to make a precautionary return to Boston. A direct track to the origin airport was then carried out.
The aircraft was able to land without further incident on runway 04 Boston Logan International Airport approximately 45 minutes after the initial departure.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a brief report confirming the JetBlue emergency incident.
“JetBlue Flight 861 returned safely to Boston Logan International Airport around 8:05 a.m. local time on Monday, April 21, after the crew reported a possible hydraulic issue. The Airbus A321 was headed to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico. The FAA will investigate.”
The airline mustered a replacement aircraft to conduct the onwards scheduled service to San Juan.

Flight data shows that JetBlue flight B6861 had departed from Boston Logan International Airport at 0718 local time on 19 April.
Following departure, the flight had climbed to 5000 feet before terminating the departure procedure and entering a holding pattern in the vicinity of the airport.
The aircraft conducting the JetBlue B6861 service to San Juan was an Airbus A321-200, registered N955JB. This is a 9.7 year old narrow body aircraft belonging to the carrier JetBlue. It has been operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in September 2015.
