JetBlue A320-200 Returns to New York JFK Due to Generator Issue

A JetBlue A320-200 bound for Fort Lauderdale (FLL) made a precautionary return to New York (JFK) with a possible generator issue on 23 September.

A JetBlue Airbus A320-200 operating a service from New York JFK to Fort Lauderdale, FL made a return to New York due to electrical problems on 23 September 2024.

JetBlue flight B62201 had conducted a departure from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) bound for Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.

The flight had reached the top of climb point (TOC) when flight crew reported a possible generator issue. As a result, flight crew elected to make a precautionary return to the origin airport.

The flight landed without further incident on runway 04L New York JFK, approximately 1.5 hours after its initial departure.

A subsequent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report confirmed that the aircraft landed at approximately 1545 local time, after reporting the possible electrical issue. The FAA will now investigate the incident.

Flight data shows that JetBlue flight B62201 made a delayed departure out of New York JFK at 1414 local time on 23 September. Scheduled departure time for the service was listed as 1340 local time.

The flight had then set course normally, climbing to flight level FL320 (32,000 feet) for the south-westerly service to Fort Lauderdale. The climb was subsequently terminated at FL320 and a direct return to New York JFK was then carried out.

The aircraft operating the B62201 the service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) was an Airbus A320-200, registered N645JB. This is an 18 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier JetBlue.

It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in October 2006. The aircraft operates under the name ‘Blues Have More Fun’.
