JetBlue A220-300 Suffers Fuel Leak on Landing New York

A JetBlue A220-300 arriving from Miami stopped on the taxiway with a suspected fuel leak after landing at New York JFK on 29 September.

A JetBlue airbus A220-300 arriving from Miami, FL was stopped clear of the runway with a suspected fuel leak after landing in New York on 29 September 2024.

JetBlue flight B62892, an Airbus A220-300 from Miami International Airport (MIA) had conducted a normal approach and landing on runway 04R New York JFK.

Following the landing, the aircraft vacated the active runway but was then brought to a stop on taxiway F. The flight crew reported a suspected fuel leak, and was subsequently attended by emergency services ground assets.

The aircraft was then placed under tow and removed from the taxiway to the apron hardstanding area.

Flight data shows that the flight B62892 made an on-time departure from Miami International Airport at 1643 local time on 29 September.

The flight had then proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL350 (35,000 feet) for the north-easterly service to New York.

Descent and approach procedures were conducted normally, and the aircraft was given a landing clearance for runway 04R.

The fuel anomaly was subsequently reported after the landing was conducted. Following its removal to the apron hardstanding area, the aircraft has remained in New York.

The aircraft conducting the B62892 service from Florida was an Airbus A220-300, registered N3162J. This is a 0.7 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier JetBlue. It has been an operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in February 2024.

The aircraft bears the airline name ‘Thelma and Blue-ise’.
