Competition is set to further increase at London Luton Airport, with Jet2 now set to enter in Summer 2025. From April 2025, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are expanding their operations with a new base at Luton Airport (LLA).
The expansion marks a significant development for the UK’s largest tour operator and third-largest airline.
Competing with the likes of Ryanair, TUI, easyJet and Wizz Air, it will offer further travel options to millions of passengers in the region. London Luton Airport is one of the UK’s busiest airports, carrying over 16.2 million passengers in 2023.
Operations at London Luton
Responding to strong customer and travel agent demand across the region, Jet2 will introduce flights to 17 sun destinations.
The network spans Europe, the Canary Islands, and the Mediterranean, with up to 36 weekly flights planned. Three exclusive routes from LLA will serve Girona, Madeira, and Verona, offering unique travel opportunities unavailable from other London airports.
Operations will commence on April 1st, 2025, with the inaugural flight heading to Majorca. The airline will deploy two Airbus A321neo aircraft at LLA, serving both package holidays and leisure flights.
Multiple weekly connections will link travelers to favorite destinations across the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Mainland Spain, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Madeira.
These select routes reflect the most popular holiday choices among UK travelers. They support convenient access to sought-after Mediterranean and European destinations.
Economic Benefits and Job Creation
This expansion brings significant economic benefits to the region, creating over 125 initial job opportunities. These will be available across various sectors including flight deck, cabin crew, engineering, and ground operations.
The investment means benefits and opportunities for the local community. It also signals a confidence in LLA as a strategic hub for the airline’s growing operations in the south of England.
